The nomination said...

Scott has been my supervisor since I started my training as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP). I was really passionate about this role and I was feeling blessed for finally having a job in which I could help people with mental health problems, but the amount of information I had to take in from the beginning was overwhelming.

Scott was always patient with me. He had, and always has, time to answer my questions and discuss my concerns. He is helping me to build my knowledge step-by-step, my understanding and my confidence and become a good therapist.

When I was doubting myself and my competence on this role, he was there to empower me and ease my frustration, helping me to see that it will take time but it will make sense and I will become better. He could see how important this role was for me and he supported me to make my dream come true. He helped me to build my confidence, control my anxiety and face my fears. He is the supervisor every trainee would dream to have.

Scott manages a large caseload; he supervises qualified PWPs and new trainees. Scott has time for all of us. The fact that he is always there for us amazes me, he makes us feel safe and fully supported – amazing!

Scott is not just a senior PWP or a supervisor, he is a leader. Every time we discuss a case with him, he is asking us to tell him what we think first, he listens to us and he guides us to make the right decision instead of giving us the right answer. He helps us to grow as therapists and he is always happy to be challenged by us. He wants us to have our opinion and feel free to express it – as he says, he learns from us too.

Scott cares about our wellbeing as a supervisor and as a friend. He changes our frustration to strength and our tears to smiles.

He motivates us to see the bigger picture, to expand our knowledge, our skills and our understanding about things and situations, to expand our perspectives considering everything and concluding to the best option for the patient.

His personality, his courage and strength throughout the difficulties he has overcome in life, his personal values and goals inspire me to become a better and stronger person. His positivity can change things all the way around. He is like a battery – when we feel low or disappointed he charges us.

Scott has been a fantastic support to me and my colleagues. He has taken the time to be there for us during the PWP course in every way. He has also made sure we have had the right peer support. He is an approachable senior and always checks in with regards to our wellbeing.

Scott has managed me very well. At times, I have doubted my abilities but he has not. He has encouraged me every step of the way and has provided me with positive feedback to keep me going. I have had a lot of experience with different managers in the past and I believe he is one of the best managers that I have worked with! He seems to get the balance of professional and amiable just right.

He is connected to the team and cares about their overall welfare. He has also been able to impart some very useful clinical knowledge. I cannot thank him enough! Due to the atmosphere he has created at work, I look forward to going to work every day!

I really look up to Scott and I wish him every success!
